Miniature Mt. Vernon - A Visit to Washington DC

It's 6 am and I just got back on the train from Washington, DC. What that means is that the 13 Days of Halloween post for today is going to be delayed a little while until I can get some sleep. But I will post Halloween House No. 9 later today.

Miniature Scale Model of Mt. Vernon

But in the meantime, I thought I would share a few photos from the visit. Since most of the people who visit my blog like to make miniature things, here are some photos of a model of Mt. Vernon, George Washington's home. It's a wonderful scale model of the real home. You aren't allowed to take photos within the home so this is the next best thing.

It was challenging taking photos through the glass so these were the best rooms that I could photograph.

Inspiring Buildings for Future Putz Houses or Glitter Houses

And here are just a few photos of inspiring buildings for future projects. One of them is even going to be a part of the 13 days of Halloween.

Here is St. Mary's Church just across the street from our hotel. I will build a church like this in the future. It is so beautiful. And next door to the church is St. Mary's Rectory which has a lovely shape as well.  And then the final photo is a section of what is called the Smithsonian Castle. I love the juxtaposition of the towers with the middle section of the building. That concept is going to be a part of the last house of the 13 Days of Halloween House series.

St. Mary's is a beautiful church in Washington, DC. It will be a model for a cardboard version sometime in December.

The building adjacent to St. Mary's church is the rectory. I like the structure of this building as well.

This photo was taken later in the day so you can't see all the wonderful details of the Smithsonian Castle, but it is beautiful. You can still get an idea of the intriguing structure.

So I will post Halloween House No. 9 later this afternoon. Talk to you then.

Beautiful architecture in these buildings and the scale model of Mt Vernon is amazing! This is all good fodder for putz house creation. Looking forward to your next post.

Laney, I am so happy to hear from you. I didn't really expect anyone to comment on this post, but I am glad you like it. The miniature Mt. Vernon was astonishing. There was a miniature museum in the Smithsonian Portrait Museum that I didn't photograph because we were in a hurry to get to the train. I still should have taken a photo or two from that. Thank you so much for stopping by.
