It's that time of year again. Time to start thinking about making a miniature house for the annual Miniature Halloween House contest.

1. Carol's Morning Glory Inn
2. Elizabeth's 001 Cemetery Lane
3. Judy's Cardsgrave Dead and Breakfast Inn
Most Whimsical Halloween House - No. 10 Cheryl's Itzy Ditzy Spider Shoe Shop
Most Innovative Halloween House - No. 42 Fairy Girl's - Good Witch
Here are the magnificent 2022 Halloween entries! Enjoy!
1. Terri - Jack's Inn on Rocky Lane
This marvelous first entry is loaded with delightful Halloween features, from pumpkins to spiders and webs to ghosts! Truly a Hallowonderland!
2. Ann's Amethyst Manor
Ann's Amethyst Manor Home for the Mentally Ill is full of delicious 1930's-era pictures of asylum residents. We tend to think of so many things as scary for Halloween, when people are the scariest things of all! Particularly love the moon at the top!
3. Gina's Dia De Los Muertos
This Day of the Dead house has a wonderful Mexican motif, with scary features throughout! The tree is a nice touch, as is the lovely fence surrounding the property of the dead.
4. Elizabeth's Ghost and Toast Inn
Elizabeth's Ghost and Toast Inn has lovely Halloween colors of black and purple, offset by the silver glitter and the lovely vegetation effects in the yard. The widow's walk is a lovely touch, but my favorite is the angularity of it all!
5. Candace's Master of Puppets House
Candace's Puppet House is so scary! The tree and roots seem to be throttling the entire house! Lovely creation!
6. Amy's The Old Haunting
Amy's The Old Haunting looks haunted, indeed! The lighting is exquisite, as are the spooky trees! One of my favorite things is the lovely setting on a book! I kept trying to read it!
7. Maria's Spooky Hotel
Maria's Spooky Hotel issues an ominous challenge: Enter if you dare! I dare not! But I love the gargoyles and the Dracula on the side. Fine 3-D effects, particularly the bony hand emerging from the second story window!
8. Judy's Cardsgrave Dead & Breakfast
Judy's Cardsgrave Dead & Breakfast is a remarkable paneled Halloween house with spectacular roof shakes, accented by lovely ghosts and skulls! The moon is just wonderful in this scary scene!
9. Joan - Ichabod's Pumpkin Patch
I am a big fan of the pumpkin focus of the Ichabod's Pumpkin Patch by Joan. The little barn is magnificent, as is the metal-roofed shed. The little wagon fits the scene perfectly!
10. Cheryl's Itzy Ditzy Spider Shoe Shop
Cheryl's Itzy Ditzy Spider Shoe shop is remarkable because of the spider legs emerging from each side of the house, making it seem it could march toward you and gobble you up at any moment! Fortunately, the fencing should keep the house contained. The shoes themselves are a fine touch, along with the spiderweb-laden trees, full of ghosts! This one ranks high on the Spookmeter!
11. Melanie - Widow's Manor
Melanie's Widow Manor is a wonderful Halloween house with a super scary tree, as spider habitat. The roof is really spectacular with the spike effects and the orange fence around the property makes such a fine color contrast.
12. Kathleen's Cottage
Kathleen's Cottage is a lovely (cardboard) stone creation with a beautiful roof. The crucifixes and gravestones make it a scary scene, indeed!
13. Audrey's Number Thirteen
One of my favorite things about Audrey's Number Thirteen is the placement of this delightful house on a round base. The pumpkins are excellent, as are the bats and the cat on the roof. The roof looks like it has metal bracing, almost like a pirate's treasure chest might.
14. Judy's Witching House and Batfry Motel
Judy's Witching House and Batfry Motel is one of the more distinctive creations we've seen, with skulls everywhere, and a slightly open front door, challenging any with the courage to enter! In my opinion, "Batfry' is the coolest word in any of the house names.
15. Patricia's 'Has Good Bones' House
Patricia's 'Has Good Bones' House is full of terrific features. The stone foundation for the house is unique, as are the rickety steps, and the house and roof falling into gradual disrepair. The tree is exceptional, and the eyes between the steps guarantee that I will, indeed, keep out!
16. Maggie's Dead End Haunted House
Maggie's Dead End Haunted House almost looks like it is a converted church, overtaken by evil forces. The stone mound on which the house is built is really wonderful, as are the dark front steps. I would know the house is haunted even without the name!
17. Melanie's Victorian Creole on the Bayou
It's always special when a creation lives up to its fine name, as Melanie's Victorian Creole on the Bayou does! Such a lovely setting!
18. Lu - Frida's Ofrenda
Frida's Ofrenda has so many nice touches, with the lovely base, glitter and colors! The dress is almost reminiscent of a mermaid gone spooky!
19. Shannon's Casa Fantasma
The glitter and vegetation really set off Shannon's Casa Fantasma! The colors are so vibrant, but none more than the rich gold/orange of the pumpkin up top!
20. Kim - Steve's Sweet Shack
I think there is some genius in placing one's Halloween shack in a jack-o-lantern! The crescent moon is one of my favorite touches, but the colors stand out so well inside this seasonal scene! I particularly love the cat above the door! Sweet shack, indeed!
21. Elizabeth - The Witch's Retreat
Ghostly greetings from this witch's retreat! The spiders are really scary, the pumpkins and very well done, and one of the neatest things is the simulated fire on the side! It doesn't scare away spiders, though!
22. Tracy's The Skull Manor
Tracy's The Skull Manor is quite scary! The poison jar has bones sticking out of it, and the skull to the side is one of the best I've seen submitted.
22. Peg's Twin Peaks
Peg's choice of including two Halloween houses with colorful peaks is a fine one. The pumpkins are great as is the shared stone walk between the houses, and look at all of the black bats!
23. Cheryl's Skeleton Soiree
Halloween houses with a novel shape really pull focus, don't they?! My favorite features are the lovely tree, the windows and the cat emerging from the chimney!
24. Vicki's The Church of Outcats
Vicki's Church of Outcats is so cool! The cats themselves are terrific, in their stylized forms. I love the names on the headstones, as well!
25. Shannon's The Candy Crypt
Candy is indeed the operative theme in Shannon's Candy Crypt! The chocolate effects on the roof look good enough to eat, but the goodies only begin there. The little ghosts are really wonderful!
26. Lynn Klemola's Kastle
Lynn's Castle isn't the largest structure, but it works so well as a complete scene, with the lovely trees and the gravestones and the Halloween highlights. Scary!
27. Lu's Black Cat Coffee Shop
Lu's Black Cat Coffee Shop is aptly named! How many cats can you count?! The witches hat-like roof is exceptional, balancing the vegetation and the glitter pumpkins.
28. Joan's The Witches Inn Dead & Breakfast
Joan's Witches Inn Dead and Breakfast has the ruby slippers ala Wizard of Oz, with designated 'Broom Parking, and delightfully detailed touches throughout. One of my favorite things is the witch silhouetted on the moon at the top! Such a creative submission!
29. Audrey's The Undertaker
Audrey's The Undertaker is a lovely scene! The coffin-shaped addition on the side really sets it apart. The trees, pumpkins, skull and spider webs make the enter presentation so spooky!
30. Sharon - Dracula's Castle
Look at the clouds driving above the Dracula's Castle Sharon made! They are the nicest clouds I have seen in this contest, with such an impressive and formidable castle! I think I will leave Dracula right where he is!
31. Penny's Home Away from Home
Penny's Home Away from Home is a ghost-infested barn if ever I saw one! The jack-o-lanterns are so expressive, and the bats are really scary!
32. Melanie's House-at-the-Edge-of-the-Willows
Melanie's House-at-the-Edge-of-the-Willows is guarded by two skeletons monitoring admission. Who would even ask to pass?! The lights on the gate columns are incredible, as is the fencing, as is the foreboding house, as are the bats ... What a creative submission!
33. Joan's Ghost and Bones Inn
Spectacular Halloween-themed trees bracket the lovely house in Joan's Ghost and Bones Inn. Such incredible detail, including all the ghosts, owls, skeletons, and a really nice well on the side with a crow on top! Joan should be proud!
34. Joyce's In The Shadows House
Placing a Halloween house in a box, as Joyce has done with her In the Shadows house, really makes a fine presentation. The cemetery is so cool, with the beautiful tree beside such a great house. I love the roof patterns!
35. Audrey's The Pumpkin Patch
Audrey's Pumpkin Patch is so well named! The pumpkin wagon can't begin to carry them all! The sign is just great, as are the frosted windows! Stacking pumpkins on hay bales is a good touch.
36. Carolin's The Best Neighbours
I don't think anyone has integrated vegetation with a Halloween House as well as Carolin has with The Best Neighbours. I never tire of examining the shape of this house. The stone entrance is set off so well by the walkway, and the setting atop a log slice. The richness of the colors works very well, indeed.
37. Elizabeth's 1313 Mockingbird Lane
1313 Mockingbird Lane has such terrific fencework, it is easy to under-appreciate what a fine house this is. The lighting in the windows is exquisite, and the trees and bats and leaves really tie it all together.
38. Carol's Psycho House and Bates Motel
I think Carol's Psycho House and Bates Motel really resemble the structures from the movie. It can't get any scarier than that! Enter the main house? NOT tempting!
39. Joe's The Burrow
Joe's The Burrow is one of the most interesting houses I have seen in a long time. The angles are magical, the windows, roofing and siding are incredible.
40. Jamie's Colorful Halloween Haunt
With the Colorful Halloween Haunt, Jamie has done such brilliant work with the lighting of the scene. Even the front porch is nicely lit, so the entire property seems to glow. I love the roof shingles, the stone walk and the magnificent fence!
41. Elizabeth's 001 Cemetery Lane
With 001 Cemetery Lane, Elizabeth has given us a stunning Halloween House. The details are incredible throughout. I particularly love the angles on the house itself, the fencing and the roof engineering ... this is a remarkable submission.
42. Fairiegirl's Good Witch
Fairiegirl's Good Witch reminds of the flying vehicles in The Golden Compass, somehow. What an amazingly creative way to make a Halloween 'House!' Very well done!
43. Jackie's Trick or Treat on Martha Lane
Okay, so, they're not really 'people,' but Jackie's Trick or Treat on Martha Lane is full of personalities, at least, in the most 'social' submission in this year's contest. After all, society is what it's all about. I just love these characters! One of my favorites is the skeletal dog in front! Beautiful!
44. Tami's Candy Corn House
In some ways, candy corn seems to really epitomize the season. Tami has really leveraged the idea is in this cute Halloween submission.
45. Lisa's Haunted Mansion
Some mansions look more haunted than others, but few look haunted-er than this one, by Lisa, atop the lovely stone base. The watchman looks ready to run at a moment's notice, as would I be!
46. Shannon's Ghoul Gardens
Vegetation abounds in this delightful creation by Shannon, this Ghoul Garden. The plants are really amazing. You can tell the ghost enjoys them! It isn't as clear in this shot, but there is an incredible greenhouse on the side! Wonderful colors and shapes!
47. Rick's Haunted Victorian Village
This Haunted Victorian Village is so incredibly colorful and detailed! The beautiful houses have such nice structure, the side doors are great, but the center square with the fountain and the gargoyle are really incredible. The village features the best lighting in the contest.
48. K's Halloween Hoedown Barn
K's Halloween Hoedown Barn has marvelous color and detail. The scarecrow, the pumpkins, the hay bales, the leaves, the tree, the rake! Very well done, K! You should be proud!
49. Terry's LaCoffin House
Pumpkins sit atop the columns providing entry to Terry's very purple LaCoffin House, with glittery bats and wonderful lighting in the tree! I think purple works very well in this Halloween creation.
50. Haunted House Built by Fire
The choice of putting this Haunted House under glass was an inspired one. Beautiful Halloween House with the upstairs porch supported by lovely round columns. How do the bats stay aloft?!
51. Nancy Ann's Creepy House at the end of the street
This creepy house has great blue lighting inside the windows, which doesn't detract at all from the fine house. The trees are great, and the rolled up newspaper is a particularly nice touch!
52. Julianna's Castle
The thing I love most about Julianna's Castle is the glitter sprinkling down in real time from the top! The future of house crafting is in good hands with this young artist!
53. Joella's Rainbow Glitter House
Joella's Rainbow Glitter House makes me think of a happy cat, mocking me as I go along. You've done a nice job with the colors here, Joella! Thank you!
54. Jamison's Bat Wing House
Jamison's Bat Wing House is, for me, all about the brown effects in front of the house around the steps. We're so happy you submitted this to us, Jamison! Please make another house next year!
54. Donald's I Love Hallowieners House
This Hallowieners House truly has wieners in the Batman and Robin troupe down front! It's very cool! It almost looks as if the house is about the snack on them! Scary!
55. Stephanie's Chicken Little Witch House
One of the coolest things about Stephanie's Chicken Little Witch House is the chicken legs supporting it! Viewed thus, the top of the barn-like structure is the chicken's head! Not the littlest chicken, that Chicken Little!
56. Carrie's Ghostly Grove
Carrie's Ghostly Grove is surrounded with autumn color. The pumpkins are really nice, and I love the ethereal ghosts!
57. Carol's Morning Glory Inn
The Morning Glory Inn is really the residence of the Morning family! I didn't realize until I read the headstones in the little cemetery on the right. It is a beautiful little Halloween House with lovely features. I particularly love the moss growing on the roof!

RULES FOR THE 2021 MINIATURE HALLOWEEN HOUSE CONTEST
1. HAVE FUN
Have fun. Really, the entire purpose of this is to have fun.
2. THREE WAYS TO ENTER THE 2021 MINIATURE HALLOWEEN HOUSE CONTEST
There are 3 ways enter a house in the 2021 Miniature Halloween House contest:
First NAME YOUR DESIGN! This helps the judges remember each design. It also adds to the design.
a) Post your house in the Paper Glitter Glue Facebook group with the tag #2022MiniHalloweenHouse. Please join this group so you enter here. It's the best way to enter.
b) Follow me on Instagram and post your 2022 Halloween house with the tag #2022MiniHalloweenHouse
c) Email me a photo. The address is [email protected]. Please include the title 2022 Mini Halloween House in your email title so I can find the photo easily.
3. PERMISSION TO POST PHOTO ON MY BLOG AND SOCIAL MEDIA
In submitting your creations, you are giving me permission to post a picture or pictures of your project on my blog and social media just like I did for the Halloween house contest last year. I love to share your projects because they are all so incredible.
4. SIZE LIMITATION FOR THE 2022 MINIATURE HALLOWEEN HOUSE CONTEST
Size requirements - I enlarged the size limitations slightly to allow for steeples and taller houses and more landscaping.
Here are the size limitations:
The base can be as large as 8 inches deep x 12 inches wide
House height - no bigger than 10 inches tall house width - 10 inches
House depth - no bigger than 7 inches.
That's really a large miniature house. However, I like to make mine smaller - easier to store and display.
5. NO BLOODY OR GORY PARTS
But I don't want to see gory or bloody. That means no bloody body parts or scary deformed creatures. Creepy and spooky are good, but not gross or gory. I think bones and skulls are ok.
6. USE ANY PATTERN YOU LIKE
For your entries, you can use your own pattern, my patterns, Tim Holtz houses, or even a purchased pattern.
7. THE HOUSE MUST BE MADE OF CARDBOARD or CARD STOCK
Your house needs to be paper-based - made out of cardboard or card stock. No wooden houses. But you can use other materials for the base and embellishments.
8. CREATIVITY AND ORIGINALITY ARE EMPHASIZED
Creativity and originality are important and will be emphasized in judging. Hint: Let the fun shine through!
Also creativity in naming your house helps to make it more special.
9. YOU MAY ENTER UP TO 3 HOUSES, BUT THE HOUSES MUST BE CONSTRUCTED IN 2022
Up to three submissions, all of houses created in this calendar year.
DEADLINE FOR THE 2022 MINIATURE HALLOWEEN HOUSE CONTEST - OCTOBER 21
Deadline for photo entries is October 21st and the winners will be announced on October 27th.
GET THE KIDS INVOLVED MAKING A MINIATURE HALLOWEEN HOUSE!
And I have one final request. Last year, a number of contestants involved children in the creation of their projects. That is some of the happiest Halloween news I could hope to hear. If you are involving your children in your creations, would you please let me know? It brightens the season immeasurably!
So that is the Mini Halloween House Contest for this year. I will let you know about the Christmas contest sometime in November. If you have any questions, please email me at [email protected].

Wow - seriously... standing ovations all round! I think my personal favourite might have to be the "Dead and Breakfast" - and not only for the brilliant wordplay! I love the pumpkin patch barn too, and Carol's Morning Glory Inn is a worthy winner - magnificent. What an array of fabulous haunted houses. A treat to visit them all, thank you.

Congratulations everyone.

Janice,
It's requires some time to add all the entries, but I think it's the best way to showcase all the entries. I am lucky that my brother does that for me because it saves me hours of work.
And I am so glad you like this contest. My goal is to encourage creativity and I think the contest does that. Thank you.

Hi Lucy,
I’ve made a Hallowed house, but I am not on Facebook. Can I enter if I send you the photos?
Lucy
Yes, of course. Just email it to me at [email protected]. I will post it on the Halloween house blogpost though. And if I may share it on Instagram, people really love to see all the houses.
Thank you for your question. It will help other people as well.
