You can see how I constructed it in the video below. I've also outlined the steps for making the house in the rest of the post.
Materials to make the Maison de Noel
Size of the house - 7.75 inches tall, 4.75 inches wide, and 2.5 inches deep or 20 cm tall, 12 cm wide and 6.5 cm deep.
Note: I ordered most of my supplies from the 12 x 12 cardstock shop. These exact colors may not be available at this time, but you can get wonderful paper from there that is similar. I especially like how you can search for and order cardstock based on its weight.
- 2 sheets Bazzill Banana Split 100 lb sheets for main structure of the Maison de Noel
- 1 sheet Bazzill Natural 100 lb for trim
- 1 sheet Bazzill Pebble Beach for stone
- 1 sheet Dark Brown sheet for the roof
- 1 sheet Green Glimmer paper for wreaths and garland
- 1 sheet Red for bows on wreaths
- Vellum for window backing
- Watercolor paper (140 lb.) if you wish to paint your project
- Acrylic paints
- Cutting machine - I used my Cricut Maker
- Bearly Art Glue
- Snow-tex for the roof

Download the pattern - Design No. 205 in the Paper Glitter Glue library

Click the big orange button that says CLICK HERE, then you go to the password page - the door to the library. Type in the password that I give you in every email. Within the library, scroll to the number of the design you want. Maison de Noel is design no. 205 in the library. It's available in 2 formats - SVG files for cutting with a cutting machine like a Cricut Maker and as PDF files for printing.
Cut out the pattern pieces - remember to specify score for the score lines and attach
Generally, I use my Cricut Maker for cutting out all my patterns. But this size design works with other machines as well including the Cricut Joy Extra. For the Cricut Joy Extra you need an adapter for the Scoring Stylus or a foil tool to make the score lines.
To make this house, I prefer heavier weight paper - 100# or above. The watercolor paper that I like it 140#. You can make it with 65# cardstock - the most common cardstock, but it may not be as sturdy.
When you cut out with a cutting machine, you have to remember to change the score lines from cut lines into score lines. In Cricut Design space, we do that in the operations menu.
Below you can see the design as it is initially uploaded in Cricut Design Space. The score lines in my patterns are drawn in red. All of those lines need to be changed to score.

And here it is within the Cricut Design Space with all the score lines selected and changed to score and attached to the piece they belong to. You can see that all the score lines are shown as dashed lines now.

Fold along all the score lines first (very important if you are going to paint your Maison)
The first thing I do after all the pieces have been cut is fold along all the score lines. If you are painting your house, the score lines kind of disappear when painted so it is important to fold first. Also when you glue on the windows and other trim, the score lines help you line everything up better.

Decorate the house with the trim and windows
Next glue on the windows and trim. There's a lot of trim for this little paper house, but that is what gives it all the personality.
This is where a glue like Bearly Art Glue works so beautifully. It has a tiny tip that allows you to apply glue precisely.

Before you glue the door in place, apply the stone background because it helps you line up the door properly.

This is how the house looks with the door in place.

All the trim applied except that I forgot a couple of wreaths.

I didn't do much decoration on the back of the house. If you wonder about the circle in the center - that's a light hole. It's kind of a tradition. You can also add more side trim.

Adhere vellum to the back of windows if desired
I just cut pieces of vellum to adhere to the back of the windows to diffuse the light.

Next, glue the roof tabs together
The video shows you how to glue the roof tabs together to make the structure strong. But I'll also show you some photos that make it clear how to put this together.

I often use painter's tape and binder clips to hold down glue tabs.

I glued the roof flaps down the back piece to make it easier to glue the tabs together.

Glue the back piece to the front piece of the Maison de Noel
Now in order to put the structure together. Apply glue to the tabs on the back piece.

I use painter's tape to help hold the back piece in place.

Do the same thing on the other side to complete the building.

Be sure to glue the roof tabs on the back piece to the roof tabs on the front piece.

Adhere the over-roof and the dormer roof support in place

Glue the side roof triangles on.

Be sure to use the flashing to cover up the gaps between the pieces of the roof and side triangles. You can also see where the dormer roof goes.

It's pretty fiddly getting the dormer roof piece in place. So you may have to mop up the roof a little bit after you place it.

Insert the base insert to maintain the square corners and glue in place

Apply snow to the roof, if desired
