Davenport Hall has just been completed. That's what's new in the Halloween House Series. This little house design was inspired by a Hallmark Halloween Pop-up house from the 60s.
What attracts me to this design is the white graphic design on the black background of the house. I just love the contrast and I knew my white gel pen would allow me to mimic this look. Truthfully, I was not nearly as effective as in the Hallmark Pop-Up House, but then I am not a Hallmark artist (which includes such artists as Walt Disney, Norman Rockwell, Saul Steinberg and even Salvador Dali).
Davenport Hall is the latest in the Houses for Habitat series. The fence is a Tim Holtz On the Edge die
Still, I am very happy with this little Halloween House which was made with the same pattern as the Davenport Green and the Lady Davenport Houses. As usual, this house will be sold in October to raise money for Habitat for Humanity. I think that makes about 6 houses I've finished for Habitat. That's not nearly as many as last year. I need to get to work. But part of the challenge is that I try to make every house different because that is what keeps it interesting for me.
Front view of Davenport Hall. The polymer clay pumpkins are not glued down yet. I'll add more Halloween decor when it gets closer to that time of year.
Rear view of the little cardboard house showing the light hole in the back. There is also a way to light the house with 3 LED tea lights from underneath as well.
View which shows the rusted tin porch roof. The design overall is so dark, I added a rusted roof for some color variation. You can read about making the rusted tin roof here.
What's next? I don't have a pattern drawn yet. My plan to develop an easier variation on this house for a free PDF in the library. That will take a little while though.
Happy Crafting wherever you are. Thank you for visiting me on my blog. If you have any requests or comments, I'd love to hear them. Also, pick out your favorite photo and pin it to your pinterest boards. Lucy

I am so glad you like my little houses. I don't make them for sale because I make them to show people how to make their own. But thank you so much for your kind words.
Merci!

Lucy, I adore these Davenport houses! The rusted porch roof is fantastic and I love the wooden porch floor! Oh, for Pete's sake, that white weathered picket fence is soooo spooky! You have gotten me in the Halloween spirit! As for lighting the houses, I like your approach. I altered a birdhouse of sorts and found the lighting to be a very difficult thing to manage. Thank God for my hubby, who can assist with the drill (I'm not gifted with power tools.) You can see my house here: https://sarascloset1.blogspot.com/2016/10/haunted-mansion-guest-designer-for.html Hugs!

Thank you, Mary. Your comments have been inspirational for me!

Once again a wonderful house and even though it's the same pattern they each have their own personality. You inspire me.
