LEARN HOW TO MAKE A DELIGHTFUL DAISY FAIRY HOUSE

Today we are going to learn how to make this adorable Daisy Fairy House. This is one of the first Fairy Houses I ever made. I've changed it up a little bit to include some larger daisies and then turn them into double daisies. Let's make it.

Watch this video to learn how to make the Double Daisy Fairy House on my Paper Glitter Glue YouTube channel! Be sure to subscribe so you'll know when I post a new project for you.

MATERIALS TO MAKE THE DAISY FAIRY HOUSE

  • Card stock - I prefer 110# card stock for the structure of the Fairy Houses, but 65# card stock works. It works perfectly for the white daisy flowers.
  • Cardboard - For this example of the Fairy House, I applied paper mache to the tree stump base. You need to use cardboard to do that. 22 point cardboard is what I used.
  • Watercolor paper is what I used for these flowers, but card stock is perfect for this
  • Gesso primer if you are using cardboard
  • Acrylic paint for painting cardboard, card stock, and decorative elements. I used Mowed Lawn Distress Paint for the base and the conical roof. I used Mustard Seed Distress Paint for the yellow. I use a number of shades of brown for the bark effect on the tree stump section of the Fairy House
  • Glue options - Quick Dry Tacky Glue for the structure of the cardboard house or Bearly Art Glue for gluing card stock
  • A way to cut out the pieces, I use my Cricut Maker to cut out all the pieces, but other cutting machines work, too

STEPS TO MAKE THE DELIGHTFUL DAISY FAIRY HOUSE

  1. Download the free Daisy pattern from the Paper Glitter Glue library - Design No. 160
  2. Choose the basic house structure for your Fairy House:
Circular Fairy House - Design No. 155
Hexagon Fairy House - Design No. 155
Fairy Cottage - Design No. 156
All of these patterns are free in the Paper Glitter Glue library
  3. Cut out the pattern for the house and the daisies
  4. If using cardboard, prime and paint your house pieces
  5. Paint the flower centers yellow or glue yellow centers in place
  6. Glue the house structure together
  7. It works best to glue the house to the base before decorating
  8. Apply the Daisies in a random pattern to the roof of the Fairy House
  9. Glue the windows and door to the front Fairy House
  10. Decorate around the base, if desired
  11. Share your adorable creation

1. Download the Daisy Fairy House Pattern - Design No. 160

This pattern for the Daisy Fairy House is free in the Paper Glitter Glue library. The files are available in 2 formats - SVG cut files for cutting machines like the Cricut Maker or Cricut Explore and PDF files you can print out.

2. Choose from one of three the Fairy House Shapes

Here are the 3 shapes of Fairy Houses in this Whimsical Fairy House series. Choose the one you like. The Daisy flower pattern fits each of these houses. I chose to use the Circular Fairy House pattern for this tutorial.

3. Cut out the pattern for Your Daisy little house

This is how the pattern looks when uploaded to Cricut's Design Space.

Here are all the pieces for my Daisy house. It does take some time to cut out all the daisies.

4. Prime and paint your little house if using cardboard for your structure

Since I wanted a bark surface on my Daisy house, I used paper mache on cardboard. I painted it with layers of colors to mimic bark.

5. Paint the flower centers yellow or glue yellow centers in place

I painted the yellow centers on these daisies. Since the daisies are fairly large, it's easy to glue the yellow centers in the middle.

6. Glue the house structure together

See these Fairy House construction videos showing how to assemble the houses. The Circular house and the Hexagon-shaped houses are shown here. You can see the construction of the Fairy Cottage here.

7. Glue the house to the base before decorating the house

I think it's easier to hold the house and decorate it when you have the house is already adhered to the base.

8. Apply the Daisies in a random pattern

Well, at least I like Daisies in a random pattern, you make like a more symmetrical pattern.

9. Glue the windows and door to the Fairy House

10. Decorate around the base, if desired

I didn't really decorate the base because I used the large Daisy as the base of house. Then I glued it the Daisy base to a cheese box. I really like using a circular box like that for a base.
