And the winners are ....
To reward as many people as possible, each person can only win one award. Judy's house - the Snowy Bliss House - won both the Overall award from the judges and the People's Choice award, but because the overall award is worth more, that is her winning award.
Overall winners:
1. Judy - Snowy Bliss House - No. 16
Judy wins $100 for her incredible house.
To see the incredible detail on the roof, check out the photo below.
2. Cheryl - Christmas in Arizona - No. 23
Cheryl wins a $75 gift card for her Arizona Mid-Century Modern house.
3. Shari - Rudolph's Respite for Retired Reindeer - No. 23
Shari wins a $50 gift card for her delightful reindeer retirement home.
It's hard to understand how cool this Retired Reindeer home with just one photo. So I'm adding a couple more - one of the crash zone and a close-up of the reindeer lined up in front of the house.
Each of the winners below wins a $25 Amazon Gift Card.
The People's Choice award:
Cathy - No. 7 the Deer and Penguin Christmas House
The Whimsical Award
The judges chose Beth's Frosty house as the most whimsical.
Beth for No. 11 her Frosty the Snowman's House
One of the cool things about this house is that there are graphics of the Frosty and his friends celebrating Christmas when you look through the windows.
The Innovative Award
Everyone loved Joyce's Timber Frame house which looked like it was out of a Dickens novel, but they especially loved that it was placed in a beautiful antique silver cup.
Joyce - No. 19, the Cozy Cup Inn
Just look at the delightful detail on the roof of this house.
Reindeer Prep Awards
I thought it was very interesting this year that we had 3 houses dedicated to reindeer. One was Gina's Reindeer training games for young reindeer, followed by Michael's project where the reindeer prepare for their big night, and then Shari's home for retired reindeer - kind of a variation on Future, Present, and Past Reindeer.
Gina - No. 44 Reindeer Training Games
Here are two other views of Gina's Reindeer training games.
Michael - No. 31 Getting Ready to Cruise the Night Away
Tiny Treasures
Pamela - No. 3 Micro Alpine Village
Pamela made these incredible tiny houses to fit on a 6 inch circle. Just imagine an entire village in that space. How incredible.
Best Under Glass
This is just such a cool way to make village in a dome!
Erica - No. 25 Gingerbread Village
First Responder Award
We must recognize the genius behind this fire station as a tribute to the firemen as first responders.
Alda - No. 8 Jingle Bells Village Fire Department
Best Bakers
Three artists baked up some incredible creations I'm sure you'll agree.
Dawn - No. 41 Cozy Donut Shop
Melanie - No. 4 GG's Greatest Gift
Allison - No. 40 Steph's Sweet Shop
Village Wreath Displays
I actually got into making houses based on seeing a village wreath so I have a special place in my heart for wreaths adorned with little houses.
Mandi - No. 36 Christmas Wreath Village
Karen - No. 6 Holiday Warmth Wreath
Most Musical
I love that Kayleigh made this one as a music box.
Kayleigh - No. 24 Sugar Plum Cottage
See All the Entries for the 2024 Christmas House Contest
Please enjoy the houses everyone shared this year, they are incredible.
1. Shari - Rudolph's Respite for Retired Reindeer
Shari's magical house is much more than the clever name. The reindeer have ... let themselves go a little bit, in retirement, but look at the other elements! A crash zone? And a caution sign for 'low-flying reindeer?' Everything is thought-out.
2. Cheryl - Frosty's House
Frosty's House features all of these delicious shades of blue, with wintry elements not-too-cold and some kids ready to carol. The officer seems to embody the Christmas spirit, guarding, yet good-humored. Every feature adds to the scene, even the lights strung on the beautiful fence.
3. Pamela - Micro Alpine Village
From the picture it isn't possible to see just how micro these little houses are. The entire base is no more than six inches across, which makes the houses even smaller. Try crafting in that scale! Every house in the village is unique and well designed, and contributes to a sense of the cohesive whole. This would be an amazing place to live. It's just great, Pamela!
4. Melanie - GG's Greatest Gift
GG's Greatest Gift give4s us a scene set in gingerbread. Look at the frosting effects! Isn't that house and its setting just magical? It is an entry good enough to eat!
5. Alda - Jingle Bells Village Tea Room
This delightful little Tea Room is a part of a larger creation Alda is making. The Tea Room has such festive colors and just looks so inviting for a Christmas tea.
6. Karen - Holiday Warmth Wreath
Just look at the variety of these Christmas houses in Karen's Holiday Warmth Wreath! They do look warm! It wouldn't surprise me to learn the entire neighborhood was enjoying some egg nog with friends in there.
7. Cathy's Deer and Penguins Christmas House
Yes! Those are penguins swimming in the icy little pond! And deer scoping out the yard and the decorations. The snow effects are exquisite throughout, with a beautiful Christmas tree, wreath and sleigh upon the roof! This submission sleighs!
8. Alda - Jingle Bells Village Fire Department
If I am not mistaken, this is the first Fire Department facility to appear in our Christmas contest. What a boldly colorful and creative structure it is, too! The tree makes the intention clear, and have you ever seen a cuter fire truck? Just be sure to lower the ladder before bridges.
9. Karen - Gingerbread Sweets Christmas House
This is a Gingerbread Sweets House from heaven! The candy cane roof embellishment is delicious, but it merely joins a festival of color and seasonal celebration. This is the house in the neighborhood where you will find the children, all drawn here by Christmas sweets.
10. Shari - Little Chapel in the Woods
While every creation is more than the sum of its parts, that seems particularly true in this submission. This beautiful little chapel is surrounded by spirit and color, and its setting contributes remarkably to the overall impression. It is such an incredible and complete scene. We see only the one sleigh, but you know, somehow, many others are warm inside, celebrating the season.
11. Beth - Frosty the Snowman's Christmas House
Beth's Frosty the Snowman features one of the coolest Christmas hats I have seen in a long time, and such a rich, deep glitter blue! Wouldn't it be cool to visit such a place with a smiley face like that?
12. Melanie - Gingie's Gingerbread House
GG's Gingerbread House has the coolest peppermint steps and snow effects, while visitors ponder how to rescue the gingerbread men from the tree that snapped them up! (They sure look happy though!)
13. Margaret - Festive Christmas Barn
This picture closeup doesn't give the broadest overview, but it gives one of the best views of the barn and its delightful features. (Look at the rich, beautiful colors and the great snow!) The names of the reindeer are inscribed above the doors. In my defense, I had no choice about picking this view. Rudolph immobilized me once he caught my eye.
14. Cathy - Snowflake Manor
Wow did Cathy pick the correct name for this house! Snowflakes everywhere! The colors and shading are great, and the abundant glitter makes this house really pop! Merry Christmas!
15. Shari - North Pole Candy Cane Lighthouse
Whoever came up with such a delicious idea?! Combining Christmas-y candy canes with such an exquisitely decorated lighthouse! Inspiration pure!
16. Judy - Snowy Bliss House
I don't know, I just have a soft spot in my heart for soft brown colors in a house. Nothing sets it off better than snow and brightly lit Christmas trees. This is a charismatic Christmas scene indeed! Well done, Judy!
17. Donna - A Merry "Little" Christmas
Donna has given us several houses in a Christmas village bathed in soft light. The trees are so festive! This is a scene for shared Christmas joy.
18. Brenda - Alpine Hermey The Elf Workshop
The most amazing thing to me about this submission is how true the characters are to those from the Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer TV movie from 1964. It was a staple in our family for Christmas viewing for many years. Happy connotations here, Brenda. Thank you so much.
19. Joyce - The Cozy Cup Inn
Some contest submissions overwhelm with the number of great features. This one starts with the lightly tarnished antique cup. Then the miniature house features two magnificent and very different windows. The snow effects are magical around this Fachwerkhaus (the embedded beams are integral to that architectural genre), and the chimney smoke is as realistic as I can ever recall. Great work!
20. Rhonda - My Sister's Church
I have seen snow scenes that are much scarier than others, but this Church by Rhonda really got it right! Though it is so wintry outside, the light within promises powerful warmth and community. This is a church for seasonal celebration!
21. Kayleigh - Snowflake Mansion
One of the coolest things about Kayleigh's Snowflake Mansion, for me, is the inlaid pattern on the surface of the wall faces of the house. Aren't those compelling? The bows make exquisite decorative elements.
22. Brenda - Snowman Glitter House
The little snowman on the right reminds strongly of the Burl Ives voiced character in the above-mentioned made-for-tv movie on Rudolph. Burl Ives had a great voice - many video copies on YT. What a delicious little village you have collected, Brenda! Thanks for sharing it with us!
23. Cheryl - Christmas in Arizona
Every year I rejoice at the reminder that the season is not the exclusive domain of the colder areas, that Christmas may be celebrated as joyously everywhere. I love the decorations in the more arid landscape. It almost looks as if the young woman at the car is having a conversation with the cactus! How often do you see something like that?!
24. Kayleigh - Sugar Plum Cottage
Many times I see a confectioner's Christmas house and I think that house looks just good enough to eat! Then I will see a house like Kayleigh's Sugar Plum Cottage, and - despite the beautiful pink icing - I will think that is too good to eat! It is a fun and beautiful creation. The video shows a magical little music box key on the back. Amazing.
25. Erica - Gingerbread Village
Maybe it's just me, but somehow, putting a creation under glass magnifies the interest and fascination. Look at the Mont-Saint-Michel aspect to this village, towering high with the structure narrowing as they ascend. Doing it in simulated gingerbread only magnifies the effect. Isn't this just stunning?
26. Joyce - Home for the Holiday
Sometimes colors we see will 'pop' due to lighting or inspired color choice. For me, this creation has that quality. Look at the tree on the left, or the rich, dark holly leaf garnish, look at the green in the wreathes on either side of the steps, look at the poinsettias. If that isn't enough, look at how white Santa's beard is, and the energy of the reindeer, about to launch into the sky!
27. Nora - Mom's 1950 Putz Houses
Nora's delicious little Putz houses are such a great village scene. The putz houses surround a similarly themed church, every structure rich with color and sparkle. Christmas lives in this little village - anyone can see it.
28. Judy - Blizzard of '45
Contest participants have no inside information about the kind of thing judges like, but I can say that, for some, this entry tags a lot of the boxes. The wooden emphasis of the house, the trees and landscaping, the magnificent snow embellishment - it is the kind of Christmas scene many of us would wish for ourselves. So lovely.
29. Kenna - Gingerbread House Luminary
Some of my favorite Christmas houses focus on the creativity inherent in papercraft. Delightful cut, rich color even if on the gingerbread end of the spectrum, clever folds for an overhanging eave. Since it seems more rare, the red accents are all the more attractive, and my eye is drawn there. It is a fine and noble house, Kenna. Thank you for sharing it.
30. Lynne - Blue and White Christmas House
I have said before how blue colors surprise me so happily in Christmas houses. Maybe it is the light, but I find it hard to imagine another color working so well with the snow from the season. Maybe it is an Elvis thing, and I hear Blue Christmas playing softly in the background? Just so you know, on the left side of the house, not visible from this angle, a brilliant little trailer is parked. It may be seen in this view.
31. Michael - getting ready to cruise the night away
I feel like I have lived my life so many years only to find a new thing I had not considered: what's it like to be Santa on this most special night?! Mustn't there be huge excitement and anticipation in making so many children happy just by showing them love and generosity? Here it is almost time to depart, Rudolph at the fore, to bring the spirit of the season to all. Happy happy.
32. Mila - Christmas Snowfall
What a cool house! I admire the thought that went into it. For me, setting the incredible tree behind and partially obscured by the house was a great choice. And, more than in every other Christmas house I have ever seen, the snow cascading down the different sections of the roof is just magical.
33. Joyce - Advent Calendar
It's hard to visualize a more imaginative creation than this Advent Calendar tableau. There is a magical theme for each day, with appropriate graphics that are intended to convey the intention clearly and completely. The varied colors are great and I suspect we may see more crafters taking on challenges like this - what inspiration is for.
34. Melanie - Gingerbread Village, Sweet and Decadent
This beautiful submission came in two versions. I picked this version because I think the lights really make it pop. It's hard to imagine a cooler gingerbread house in a cup than this one, particularly with such delightful colors.
35. Rosa - Silent Night
While just about all Christmas-themed houses are wonderful, when have we seen one with such lovely poinsettia accents? The snow and sparkle effects on the roof are particularly well done, to make this a delightful Christmas scene.
36. Mandi - Christmas Wreath Village
For me, one of the happiest developments in recent contests is the growing number of village submissions. And setting the village in a wreath scene is just perfect! Look at the variety and colors Mandi has included in this! What a gift it would make! Or seasonal decoration at one's home.
37. Kathleen - MCM Merriment
How cool is MCM Merriment? There is so much to love here in this little mid-century modern house! What a magnificent matching convertible coupe out front! Santa looks positively elfin, and the delightful house! One of my favorite features is the white reindeer behind the beautiful trees.
38. Cathy - Classic Christmas Church
This beautiful church looks so good lit up, it is the version picked for the line-up if submissions, even though it doesn't show the entire church. You can see that here, in the original submission. That is worth the visit!
39. Manya - Cozy Christmas Lodge
The creativity of the members of this group is limitless. Look at the beautiful setting for this A-frame Christmas house. It fits so nicely between the trees, with intriguing lighting that even the deer cannot resist. The snow is glorious, and I can well imagine walking up the steps in approach.
40. Allison - Steph's Sweet Shoppe
I can't taste the sweets from Steph's lovely shoppe, but my imagination can. Isn't stimulating the imagination the first step for such a cool business? I really like the wreaths a bows on the windows, and the Christmas tree would brighten up any street.
41. Dawn - The Cozy Donut Shop
Sometimes someone will make a house and explain things about it that made it special for them. For this house, Dawn said beads from Dollar Tree inspired the donut idea, that she loved the corrugated cardboard for the roof, and details like the Open sign on the door required squinting! How many times has that happened for you?
42. Ally's Alpine Abode
So many cool things with this one. The little Santa and the fawn go together like Christmas teammates, and look at the cute little smirk on Frosty's face. Beyond that, the house is magical, with rich and abundant color tying everything in. I especially love the street lamps for this festive winter scene.
43. Gina - Tom Thumb's Gingerbread House
This is Tom Thumb's Gingerbread House. It may be our tiniest submission. Santa has clearly fallen in the snow, lack of practice, no doubt! I love how the little trees support the string of lights. What a unique little house! This one's a joy!
44. Gina - Reindeer Training Games
I just love the concept of reindeer training games. Since we can only show you one view, you miss all the other incredible details on this house. Gina tells us more about it - On the farm the reindeer will learn to pull sleighs, jumps and roof landings. Santa and Mrs. Clause are watching from the porch of their quaint little farm house.
Don't you just love it? You can see more within the Facebook group.
Joy of Creation Submissions
As you saw during the Halloween House contest, we created a new category for use during the contests - a Joy of Creation category, for houses not competing for prizes. To share the joy, we are happy to include them for your viewing pleasure!
1. JOC 1 - Melissa - Christmas in San Juan
Just about every year one of our crafters posts a Christmas scene that is not set in snowy winter. It is a spectacular reminder that Christmas isn't a location, and no place has a lock on it. Christmas is in the heart, and the buildings and decorations in Melissa's little San Juan prove it better than words ever could.
2. JOC2 - Howard - Stunning Christmas Village
We have a soft spot in our hearts for village scenes, since the season is all about full and shared community. That said, I can't recall seeing a more complete Christmas village than this one, by Howard. Keep in mind that all of the houses (and even the people, from what I understand) were made by hand, and you will get some sense of the magnitude of what Howard has accomplished here.
3. JOC3 - Jodie - French Orangery House
Sometimes you will see a house and think it is an absolute natural for a Christmas House contest. Then you will see a house and think, I wish I had made that! I think that might be a podium finisher at the very least. So, how came this beautiful house to be in Joy of Creation as opposed to duking it to for prizes? As self-reported by Jodie, ¾" too high! Delighted that we did not miss this creative project just because we didn't have someone in place to catch and submit it.
4. JOC4 - Shari - Maison de Noel
The happiest thing for me about Joy of Creation entries is just how true they are to the spirit of the contest - that it's not about prizes, but, rather, joyful sharing of houses like this beautiful one right here. The wreaths, the garland, the magical little fence, this is wonder, this is wonder-ful. TY, Shari.
5. JOC5 - Lesa - Santa's Workshop
This stunning church was just a little bit too large for the contest, but you can see that it is more than worthy for inclusion on the page as a Joy of Creation submission. It is a great share.
6. JOC6 - Joyce - Stained Glass Windows
This JOC submission is a beautiful paper craft combination in the stained glass window category! It is so wonderful it would be a worthy addition to anyone's holiday!
7. JOC7 - Nora - Classy Christmas Cottage
Nora's incredible little cottage was slightly too big for a regular contest entry, but perfect as a Joy of Creation submission. I am particularly captivated by the textures in the darker colors, in the reds and browns and golds. The plant displays below the windows are mesmerizing.
8. JOC8 - Amy - Christmas Barn
Apologies, first, that the picture of this beautiful little barn is not clearer. I stick think it conveys what a fine job Amy did in creating it, with the cute little car and the tree and the snow effects. In your debt for this share, Amy.
9. JOC9 - Amy - Little Xmas Cottage
Sometimes it is hard to write a description for the house because it is just too cool for school. Here I love the cute little stylized tree, but it is almost overshadowed by the great texture on the wall of the house. Isn't that realistic? But look at how naturally the pile of snow lays on ground. Exactly how those fall when the roof sheds. Lovely, Amy! Thanks so much for sharing these!
This house, Judy's Twinkly Lane, won the People's Choice Award in the 2023 Christmas House contest. Judy did a great job. Everyone loved this house because it was just so cool.
And this beautiful village by Donna was picked as the first prize entry.

Rules for the 2024 Miniature Christmas House Contest
1. Have fun.
Really, the entire purpose of this is to have fun and to share the fun. Simply make a house that expresses a Christmas season theme or atmosphere and enjoy the process, the fine company.
To emphasize this point, the contest period is now open to what we call "Joy of Creation' submissions, of which we received two for Halloween.(Hat tip Amy and Julie!) Every year we seem to have members who just want to participate in the creative challenge, not the contest itself. We applaud this mindset, because it reflects the spirit of our group so well, where satisfaction is found in creation of little houses and scenes and in the sharing of that with friends.
Another possibility, as noted in Rule 8, you may enter up to three houses in the competition.
The Joy of Creation Option
We enthusiastically welcome Joy of Creation submissions because you may not be interested in competing for prizes - you just like to create. We want to see and appreciate what you make. We are not setting any limit on such submissions. Just please add the tag #JoyOfCreation when you post them. For that matter, these submissions can also be items too large for contest qualification, or even creations that are not houses. Express yourself!
2. Name Your Design
First NAME YOUR DESIGN! This helps the judges (and contest visitors) remember each design. It also adds to the design.
It's much better for those viewing your creation if it has a name. Some of the names of the previous submissions are incredibly creative. Naming your design enhances your submission, and is an avenue of creative expression in its own right.
PLEASE WRITE A SENTENCE OR TWO (OR TEN!) ABOUT YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS, YOUR INSPIRATION AND THE LIKE. MANY PEOPLE REQUEST THIS BECAUSE THEY WANT TO LEARN FROM YOU. INSPIRATION IS CONTAGIOUS.
3. Three Ways to Enter the 2024 Miniature Christmas House Contest
a) Post your house in the Paper Glitter Glue Facebook group with the tag #2024MiniChristmasHouse. Please join this Facebook group so you can enter there. It's the best way to enter. (This is safest to insure your submission is captured without issue.)
b) Email me a photo on or after November 20. The address is [email protected]. Please include the title 2024 Mini Christmas House in your email title so I can find the photo easily and include it as an official submission.
c) Follow me on Instagram and post your 2024 Christmas house and tag me @lucyf7b on Instagram.
A note about submissions. It often happens that folks share their houses in the Facebook group prior to the beginning of the contest. That is fine, just please remember to either re-post it once the contest opens, or send me an email with a link to the submission. We won't start scanning for official entries prior to the start of the contest. But the house does have to be made this calendar year.
Finally, after you have submitted your house and we get the entries all posted here, please check to be certain that we have captured your submission(s)! Email immediately if we missed something or made an error with it!
4. Permission to Post Your House Photo on my website and on social media.
In submitting your creations, you are giving me permission to post a picture or pictures of your project on my website and social media just like I did for the Halloween house contest in October. I love to share your projects because they are all so incredible. This allows all site visitors and guests to see your creations, which can help inspire them in turn. Our usual convention is to post only first names with the house names with no personal information.
5. Size Limitation for the 2024 Miniature Christmas House Contest
Here are the size limitations:
Base - no limitation on the base so you can landscape as much as you want, but the size of the house does have limitations
House height - no taller than 10 inches tall
House width - no wider than 10 inches
Depth of the House - no deeper than 8 inches
Villages or small groups of houses are welcome as long as each house is no bigger than the measurements listed above.
Note: It is much harder to take in all the details in one photo. We need one photo for the judges to look at. Post as many as you like, but for the judging we usually have room just to include one photo.
6. Use any pattern you like
For your entries, you can use your own pattern, my patterns, patterns from my friend, Jackie of A Cottage in the Forest, Tim Holtz houses, or even a purchased pattern.
7. The house must be made of cardboard or cardstock
Your house needs to be paper-based - made out of cardboard or card stock. No wooden houses. But you can use other materials for the base, landscape, and embellishments.
8. Creativity and Originality are emphasized
Creativity and originality are important and will be emphasized in judging. Hint: Let the fun shine through!
Also creativity in naming your house helps to make it more special. Please tell us a little bit about your house - how you made it, what inspired it, etc. We all love to read about the creative inspiration behind your projects. We are delighted to note that people are becoming much more creative with house names. It is a very welcome trend.
9. You may enter up to 3 houses, but the houses must be unique and constructed in 2024
Up to three submissions, all of houses created in this calendar year. (Again, note, this rule does not restrict submission 'Joy of Creation' houses, which are not eligible for prizes.)
10. How to Vote for the People's Choice Award for this Year's Contest.
You will have one vote when you post a comment at the end of this post AFTER ALL THE ENTRIES ARE IN, VOTING STARTS ON December 21st and lasts until midnight on December 22nd. And you have another vote on my YouTube channel. Subscribe to get notifications of when we post the contest video. Please note this is intended to be about fun and creativity, not competition. Vote for your choices, but please don't 'stuff the ballot box.'
GET THE KIDS INVOLVED MAKING A MINIATURE CHRISTMAS HOUSE!
The Christmas season is a family season. We always love to see house submissions from your children (in two categories this year! Ages 10 & under and 11-16. Please note their age with the submission so we can get them properly entered in the correct category). Allow their youthful creativity to flow. The names of the children's submissions will be placed in a hat and drawn randomly. Those submissions aren't - and should not be - competitive. They should have fun with no other concerns! But we love encouraging them to exercise their imaginations and creative skills.
Note: Prizes in children's submissions in the two age categories will be by random drawings. No competitive pressure! No value judgments.
So that is the Christmas House Contest for this year. Whatever you do, enjoy it! Enjoy making your houses and sharing them. That's what it is all about.
Deadline for the 2024 Miniature Christmas House Contest is December 20th.
Deadline for photo entries is December 20 and the winners will be announced on December 22nd.
And if you would like more inspiration ...

I am amazed at all the creativity shown in this year's entries. So many are unique and deserving to win. I have struggled between at least 5 different houses but have finally decided that
19. Joyce - The Cozy Cup Inn
is my choice for #1.
I love the antique look to it as well as how many small details went in to making such a warm and inviting little house/inn. The person sitting near the window, the stone steps and walkway, the way the light shines out of the front window and, lastly, the smoke coming out of the chimney.
Congratulations to all the contestants as you have done an amazing job this year!
Mary Vernau
So difficult to choose a winner ! The houses are all fantastic, but I think #16 is my favorite.

Congratulations to everyone who submitted an entry! Each is creative and pretty. I had several which I’d be thrilled to own; however, one stood out because of the scope of the entire project submitted. My choice is #44! I selected this entry because it tells a fun story along with a fabulous miniature Christmas house! Merry Christmas to Everyone!
Jodie
These are all so fabulous in different ways. I find myself most drawn to #7 - the Deer & Penguin house.

Every year it is more difficult to choose just one from all the wonderful entries! This year I have to choose Number3, the micro alpine village because it reminds me of my childhood (sooooo long ago!) visiting a home with a lovely Putz Village on display in place of pride. Pamela has done an amazing job of placing all those houses and trees on a tiny base whilst leaving enough room to allow my imagination to wander the tiny village paths. Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas from NE Scotland:)
Brenda
I wavered between #3 and #35. In the end, I liked #35 just a wee bit more.
Dawn
