Make a Little Chaise Lounge for a Dollhouse

Dollhouse with chaise lounge

When I decided to make a little dollhouse, eventually I realized that I needed to make things to go in the dollhouse. And that led to dollhouse furniture that ranged from tiny beds, a table and chairs, even a coffin clock and a bat wing bed. Today I'm sharing my chaise lounge the perfect size for the dollhouse.

The Chaise Lounge is so easy to make because the structure is simple. Honestly, the only slightly tricky part is gluing down the fabric with the help of quilt batting and hot glue. I'm kind of clumsy with a hot glue gun.

Now you can find the pattern in my free Paper Glitter Glue library. If you already have the password, just go to the library page and enter the password and go to Design No. 195 to download the free pattern.

But if you don't have the password, no worries. Simply subscribe to my crafty newsletter with the form below and you will get the password right away.

Materials to Make the Chaise Lounge

  • Cardboard or cardstock - heavier weight cardstock is better
  • Paint if using cardboard
  • Glue - Aleene's Quick Dry Tacky Glue or Bearly Art Glue for cardstock
  • Quilt batting - just a small piece about 3 inches x 4 inches long
  • Cloth for chaise lounge - also about 3 inches x 4 inches long
  • Cutting machine to cut out the pattern - I used my Cricut Maker

Steps to Make the Chaise Lounge

  1. Download the pattern from the Paper Glitter Glue library - Design No. 195
  2. Cut out all the pieces for the miniature Chaise Lounge
  3. Glue the side pieces together
  4. Adhere the middle part of the chaise lounge together
  5. Glue quilt batting to the seat template.
  6. Hot glue the cover fabric to the padded seat template
  7. Adhere the padded seat to the chaise lounge structure
  8. Decorate your little dollhouse with the cute chaise lounge

Now let's go into a little more detail about making this cute Chaise Lounge.

Download the pattern from the Paper Glitter Glue library - Design No. 195

First, go to my free Paper Glitter Glue library to download the cut file, click the big orange button on that page to take you to the password page.

Then enter the password that protects my files. If you don't have the password, just subscribe to my newsletter with the form below and you will get the password right away.

The Chaise Lounge files are available in SVG and PDF formats.

Cut out all the pieces for the Chaise Lounge

These are all the pieces for the Chaise Lounge except for the quilt batting and fabric to cover the quilt batting.

Here's how the pattern looks in Cricut Design Space. It uploads at 10.44 inches x 9.73 inches.

Ungroup the design. Check to make sure the 1 inch scale square uploaded at the size I designed it. Delete the square when you know it uploaded correctly.

Select the piece that makes the seat structure. Then select the score lines that are grouped with that piece. Go to the operations menu on the upper left side and change them to score. Then go back to that piece and select both the seat and its score lines and attach them. The attach button is at the lower right side in the layers panel.

Do the same with the purple piece for the seat padding as it has one score line.

Now cut out all the pieces. Please note: I cut out 4 copies of each side of the Chaise Lounge legs to make them stronger. That's why there are so many copies in the pattern.

Use either a lightweight cardboard (22 pt cardboard) or a heavy weight cardstock (110# cardstock) for the structure of the chaise lounge.

Glue the side pieces together

Next, glue the four layers of legs together to make the structure stronger. Also notice that the outer set of legs has a spiral cutout on it.

Adhere the middle part to the legs

First, fold along all the score lines. Apply glue to the tabs on the middle seat part. Then adhere to the legs.

Glue quilt batting to the seat base

Cut out a piece of quilt batting slightly larger than the seat base. Adhere to the seat base. Probably the easiest way to get it to adhere is to use hot glue. Otherwise it takes a while to for the glue to dry.

Cover the quilt batting with fabric

Again, cut out a piece of fabric larger than the seat base. Adhere it to the padded seat base with hot glue.

Adhere the fabric-covered seat base to the main structure of the chaise lounge

Finally, apply glue to the bottom of the fabric-covered seat base and adhere to the main chaise lounge structure.
