Table of Contents
Here is the complete list of winners in the 2024 Miniature Spring and Easter contest
First place: Manfred - Easter Egg Hunt at the Orchard Cottage - $100 Amazon Gift Card
Second Place: Judy - Springvale Lane - $75 Amazon Gift Card
Judy actually won the People's Choice award as well, but because the second place award is a "bigger" award, I've awarded her second place overall.
Third Place: Melanie - Butterfly Cottage - $50 Amazon Gift Card
All the special awards win a $25 Amazon Gift Card.
The Creative Award goes to Lu's Easter Bunny House because of her incredible paper mache shoe. I am so impressed with that design.
The Whimsical Award goes to Beth for her Eggstravagant Easter Bunny Tree House which is defines whimsical don't you think?
The Innovative Award is Alda's Greenhouse for Painting Eggs. The entire concept is just delightful and so unique.
Now for the special awards.
The Best Lawn and Landscaping goes to Rhonda's Little Easter House with Easter Eggs. I always enjoy Rhonda's colors and landscaping.
The Kids' Winners are Maxwell and Quinn. We are always happy to have kids involved in this creative process.
The house below is from Quinn. I just love the gold coins as fencing. That's so much fun.
This is Maxwell's entry. It features a character called Peep-zilla who is eating the chocolate house.
The Most Elegant Easter House is Kim's Bunny Palace.
And undeniably, the best nautical setting is Cheryl's Springtime by the Sea. She was 4th in the overall judges voting so she certainly deserves this award.
Thank you so much for sharing your creativity with us. Please email me - [email protected] so I can send your Amazon gift card to you.
ENTRIES FOR THE 2024 SPRING AND EASTER HOUSE CONTEST
Video of the 2024 Easter and Spring Miniature House Entries
1. Marsha - Eggs-tra Special Easter House
This is Marsha's Eggs-tra special Easter/Spring house based on a pattern from Simply Crafty SVGs. The bunny and little peep are gearing up for their big day. It's just before dawn on Easter, and the moonlit glow is reflecting from the windows. I just love the little figures on the stairs.
2. Maggie - Papa and Mimi's Easter Family Reunion
Maggie made this delightful entry showing Papa and Mimi's Easter Family Reunion as a celebration of family, nature, and life itself. She said it was inspired by her growing family (new great grandbabies and new marriages) and by living in a beautiful area of East Tennessee, and by being alive all her MANY years. She wishes you all a blessed Easter holiday!
3. Cheryl - Springtime by the Sea
Perhaps some of the best views of springtime are by the sea, as Cheryl shows with this beautiful submission.
4. Melanie - Butterfly Cottage
Melanie wanted to design something different this year, a new shape for her. The bottom part of the house is an oval shape. The dragonfly, the ladybug, and butterflies are cut with a Big Kick die cutting machine and small dies, and same goes for all the flowers that encircles the cottage. She said that designed this house "to keep it bright & colorful to bring out the meaning of Spring, Alive & Thriving … New life."
5. Paulette - Nana's Bunny House
Paulette designed this house. The Easter Bunny is watching over all the little bunnies. The gnomes and birds help the Easter bunny watch the baby bunnies because you know they can be a handful.
6. Judy - Springvale Lane
If you don't do anything else, please go join the Facebook group and read Judy's delightful story in the Paper Glitter Glue Facebook group about this magical house and its circumstances, how it tells about Eleanor (the owner) and a special butterfly that came to visit. An honor to read, truly.
7. Rhonda - Little Easter House with Easter Eggs
Rhonda makes all her houses by hand. And as you can see she also choses the most beautiful colors. You can see her tutorial for making the picket fence on her website, Christmas Notebook.
8. Alda - Green House For Painting Eggs
If you are an Easter Rabbit, sooner or later you may want to have a special place to paint your beloved eggs, to have them ready for the hunt. In this case, a hexagonal greenhouse like Alda's might be timely, indeed.
9. Rhonda - An Easter House with Flowers
With this submission, Rhonda notes that it's time for an Easter house, and this one featuring the terrific landscaping and colors fits the bill quite wonderfully.
10. Beth - Eggstravagant Easter Bunny Tree House
decided to make this house because I had some miniature Easter bunny figures that I had my son paint over 30 years ago and I had nothing to showcase them on. Now I have an Eggstravagant Easter Bunny Tree House center piece for my dining room table that makes me smile every time I look at it.
11. Kim - Bunny Palace
Kim says that Bunny Palace is a variation of a design from Dreaming Tree, reduced in size, with the windows and base changed out. The top removes to allow fairy lights, which let you see silhouettes of bunnies showing through the windows. How delightful!
12. Donna - Hippity Hoppity Hideaway
In Donna's submission, a tiny bunny hops down a hidden trail that leads to the small valley he calls home. Nestled in the side of the hollow, Peter's Hippity Hoppity Hideaway is a welcome sight. Home at last! The hollow is bustling with activity as his friends and family tend the little ones in the bunny bungalow and prepare to harvest the crop of carrots. When Peter sees the brightly colored eggs tucked here and there, he knows that Easter is truly on its way!
13. Manfred - Easter Egg Hunt at the Orchard Cottage
Mr. E. Bunny ist contemplating If he's going to have a little snack from the Garden before he goes on. He just hid 12 Eggs in the Garden. How many can you find?
14. Cheryl - A Spring Afternoon at the Cafe
Using a pattern by acottageintheforest, Cheryl's delightful cafe draws us happily into spring. Wait until the beverage arrives with a fresh pastry!
15. April - Spring in Wisconsin
I can't speak for anyone else, but I am a big fan of stylized trees and houses like April's. The submission is so colorful, with the blues and pinks and whites ... such a lovely spring display.
16. Julie - Golden Egg House
Julie noted that this was her first try at making something like this. Clearly, she has a fine talent! More than anything I love the family gathered around and invested in the place where they live. We can all relate to that. Please keep making and sharing these with us!
17. Michelle - Beatrix Potter Fairy Cottage
Michelle notes that she loves all of the Easter themes of the entrees in this contest. Her piece was inspired by her mother's mother who was born around 1918 and who always loved Beatrix Potter's stories and the art associated with them.
18. Quinn (age 15) - The Leprechaun House
Quinn made this house for the leprechauns to live in. It has rainbow smoke and a coin fence. Rainbow glass windows and pond for them to enjoy. Also, of course a pot of gold. The house is hidden, a grassy hide-away so no humans can find them.
19. Maxwell (age 13) - The Peep-zilla House
Maxwell tells us: the little peeps decided to make their house out of chocolate but that was a mistake. It attracted Peep-Zilla, who is happily munching on their chimney. Maxwell made Peep-zilla using his mom's cricut machine, and the roof features real chocolate wrappers. What a fun, clever idea, Maxwell!
20. Joyce - Easter Egg Shadow Box
Joyce said she was just looking around and suddenly a butterfly flew through, where did he go? There he is resting on the flowers. Beautiful flowers with shinny rhinestone centers. What a great little place to continue hiding my Easter eggs. The pink basket still has a few eggs to be hidden among the flowers and grass. Happy Easter!
21. Melanie - Home of the Ladybugs
The ladybugs made their home in an oil tin can. They come back year after year to deliver their young. And their young will follow suit in years to come. Lovely family home, indeed.
Julie - Inspiring Creation, but not a contest submission
This wedding cake was made by Julie. It is not an entry in the contest (so please do not vote for it), but it is amazing and inspirational, all the same, so we included it. The creativity in this group knows NO BOUNDS.
22. Tina - Bunny's Bait and Tackle
Tina informs us that the inspiration for this creation comes from where her family lives on a lake in Virginia, where her kids grew up fishing, boating and swimming. This is their true happy place, as you can imagine!
23. Joyce - Easter Tree Shadow Box
Joyce writes: Have you ever walked in the park or woods and suddenly seen something ahead… I was just taking a walk and all of a sudden there was something I had never seen before. An Easter Egg Tree. How joyful!
24. Lu - Easter Bunny House
"There was an old rabbit who lived in a shoe, she had so many bunnies she didn't know what to do..." SO many bunnies!!
25. Melissa - Wisteria Rest
Melissa notes: "Spring is my favorite season and that wisteria crowned gazebo is the perfect spot to enjoy it!" We so agree! Beautiful.
26. Terry - Mr Hop's Vintage Easter House
Mr. Hop's Vintage Easter House has such rich color contrast! The trees frame the house so nicely, and the bunnies are ready for a feast.
27. Nora - Lilac Dream House
Glitter is the name of the game for Nora's Lilac Dream House. The fencing is just lovely, but it isn't up to the task of containing capricious bunnies.
28. Hannelore - Pine Cone Roof Easter House
The creativity of our members is always on display, but never more so than with the magical roof of this Pine Cone Roof Easter House. So creative!
If you would like even more inspiration, the the 2023 entries may be found here, and the 2022 entries may be found here.

RULES FOR THE 2024 MINIATURE EASTER AND SPRING HOUSE CONTEST
1. HAVE FUN
Have fun. Really, the entire purpose of this is to have fun and to share the fun. Simply make a house that expresses a Easter or Spring season theme or atmosphere and enjoy the process.
2. NAME YOUR DESIGN
First NAME YOUR DESIGN! This helps the judges (and contest visitors) remember each design. It also adds to the design.
It's much better for those viewing your creation if it has a name. Some of the names of the previous submissions are incredibly creative. Naming your design enhances your submission, and is an avenue of creative expression in its own right.
PLEASE WRITE A SENTENCE OR TWO ABOUT YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS AS WELL, YOUR INSPIRATION AND THE LIKE. MANY PEOPLE REQUEST THIS BECAUSE THEY WANT TO LEARN FROM YOU.
3. THREE WAYS TO ENTER THE 2024 MINIATURE EASTER OR SPRING HOUSE CONTEST
a) Post your house in the Paper Glitter Glue Facebook group with the tag #2024MiniEasterHouse or #2024MiniSpringHouse. Please join this Facebook group so you can enter there. It's the best way to enter. (This is safest to insure your submission is captured without issue.)
b) Email me a photo on or after March 1st. The address is [email protected]. Please include the title 2024 Mini Easter or Spring House in your email title so I can find the photo easily and include it as an official submission.
c) Follow me on Instagram and post your 2024 Easter/Spring house and tag me @lucyf7b on Instagram.
A note about submissions. It often happens that folks share their houses in the Facebook group prior to the beginning of the contest. That is fine, just please remember to either re-post it once the contest opens, or send me an email with a link to the submission. We won't really start scanning for official entries prior to the start of the contest. But the house does have to be made this calendar year.
4. PERMISSION TO POST YOUR HOUSE PHOTO ON MY BLOG AND SOCIAL MEDIA
In submitting your creations, you are giving me permission to post a picture or pictures of your project on my website and social media just like I did for the Easter house contest last year. I love to share your projects because they are all so incredible. This allows all site visitors and guests to see your creations. Our usual convention is to post only first names with the house names.
5. SIZE LIMITATION FOR THE 2024 MINIATURE EASTER OR SPRING HOUSE CONTEST
Here are the size limitations:
Base - no limitation on the base so you can landscape as much as you want, but the size of the house does have limitations
House height - no taller than 10 inches tall
House width - no wider than 10 inches
Depth of the House - no deeper than 8 inches
Villages or small groups of houses are welcome as long as each house is no bigger than the measurements listed above.
Note: It is much harder to take in all the details in one photo. We only choose one photo for the judges to look at. Post as many as you like, but for the judging we only have room to include on photo.
6. USE ANY PATTERN YOU LIKE
For your entries, you can use your own pattern, my patterns, Jackie's patterns from A Cottage in the Forest, Tim Holtz houses, or even a purchased pattern.
7. THE HOUSE MUST BE MADE OF CARDBOARD OR CARD STOCK
Your house needs to be paper-based - made out of cardboard or card stock. No wooden houses. But you can use other materials for the base, landscape, and embellishments.
8. CREATIVITY AND ORIGINALITY ARE EMPHASIZED
Creativity and originality are important and will be emphasized in judging. Hint: Let the fun shine through!
Also creativity in naming your house helps to make it more special. Please tell us a little bit about your house - how you made it, what inspired it, etc. We all love to read about the creative inspiration behind your projects.
9. YOU MAY ENTER UP TO 3 HOUSES, BUT THE HOUSES MUST BE UNIQUE AND CONSTRUCTED IN 2024
Up to three submissions, all of houses created in this calendar year.
10. HOW TO VOTE FOR THE PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD FOR THIS YEAR'S CONTEST
You will have one vote when you post a comment at the end of this post AFTER ALL THE ENTRIES ARE IN, VOTING STARTS ON MARCH 24TH. And you have another vote on my YouTube channel. Subscribe to get notifications of when we post the contest video. Please note this is intended to be about fun and creativity, not competition. Vote for your choices, but please don't 'stuff the ballot box.'
GET THE KIDS INVOLVED MAKING A MINIATURE EASTER/SPRING HOUSE!
The Spring season is a great family season. We always love to see house submissions from your children (ages 16 & under, and please note their age with the submission). Please allow their creativity to flow. The names of the children's submissions will be placed in a hat and drawn randomly. Those submissions aren't - and should not be - competitive. They should have fun with no other concerns!
Note: Winners in children's submissions will be by random drawing. No creative pressure!
So that is the Easter & Spring House Contest for this year. Whatever you do, enjoy it! Enjoy making your houses and sharing them. That's what it is all about.

One of my best patterns is the Irish Stone Cottage. It is perfect for the spring season. You can add all sorts of seasonal colors and elements to decorate the cottage - little eggs, bunny rabbits, shamrocks, or 4-leaf clovers. Just use your imagination.
This Miniature Irish Stone cottage is made for spring or Easter.
I even made a version in a paper mache egg that definitely sits the Easter theme, though I made it for St. Patrick's day.
Spring Blossom Fairy House definitely fits the bill for this season.
Any of my other main house structures would work as well:
The Habitat house is a great, relatively simple Victorian house - easily modified for Spring or Easter.
The Putz Mansion works well.
And the Front Tower Clockhouse) is another good possibility.
I hope to see your entry starting March 1st.
Lucy
Melissa
Congratulations everyone! Well done!

Lucy
Marie-Hélène
Hello Lucy! My vote goes for #16 JULIE’s Golden Egg hunt house. her FIRST house?! Wow, then she must have a true talent. I like that it is not all made by a Cricut (or other machine) Cutting it by hand is much harder.
Lucy
Hello Marie-Helene,
It's always good to hear from you. Thank you for voting.
Lucy
Jeannette
First of all I have mention that their were some beautiful pieces, thank you for taking the time to show them all off. It was very hard to go down to one favorite, the detail in some of these houses were truly amazing. So my first guess for the number 1 for me whould have to be
3. CHERYL - SPRINGTIME BY THE SEA
and my second was
6. JUDY - SPRINGVALE LANE
Awesome work all
Cindy
Wow! Such a great bunch of houses! As in the past the choice was really hard. I finally narrowed my choices down to #3 and #6. #6 reminds me so much of a Thomas Kinkade design and he is a great favorite artist of mine. #3 was very unusual as I don't remember anyone doing anything like this before. The house is gorgeous, the flower beds are perfect and the forest background just is so perfect. I love that it is sitting on a cliff with the ocean at the bottom. So cleanly done. Okay, I have to make a choice and this time I will choose: 3. Cheryl - Springtime by the Sea
Sharon Andrle
I vote for #20 by Joyce. It is a beautifully created piece and an original design.
Lucy
I love Joyce's work. I think she just started using a cutting machine which is amazing.
Lucy

Lucy

Since it is a house contest and not a decorating contest, I choose # 6. It is beautifully done and accented well to still feature the house as the project. I think #2 is beautifully done also.
Lucy
Kim,
I love that you explained your thinking. You can probably tell from the house I make that the house is the most important thing to me.
Thank you for voting.
Lucy
Melissa
Gotta go with Peep-Zilla, #19! That monster chick is just too much!😂
Lucy
Peepzilla is hysterical. That young man has an incredible sense of humor.
Lucy
Helen J Roberts
I love them all but there is one that stands out to me the most.
12. DONNA - HIPPITY HOPPITY HIDEAWAY
From the eggs hidden in the yard to the tea table set outside, this speaks Easter and Spring to me. There is the grass roof detailing, veggies to pick, and a bunny hut to play in. The hobbit-like shape of the doors and windows fit a bunny home perfectly.
Congratulations to everyone for such a spectqcular selection of houses this year!
Lucy
Helen,
It is always good to see you. Thank you for your vote and how you explained what you like about Donna's project. I know Donna will appreciate it.

Diana Devlin McConahay
I loved Judy's Springvalle Lane (#6). It is beautifully put together and looks lovely. My second choice is Cheryl's Springtime by the Sea which is wonderful to look at.
Bella
This is always SO hard! I had a tough time even narrowing it down to 3, there were so many great little pieces. In the end it came down to 6, 11 and 19, 6 reminded me of a dollhouse with its Victorian perfection, 11 is the cutest little bunny palace - love the stars cut into the house, and the sense of humor of Chickzilla and a chocolate chick house cracked me up. Of the three I decided to go with 6, because spring and bunnies get me every time. Congratulations everyone for submitting all your hard work, every piece is a winner!
Ruth Rowe

Lucy
Bon,
That is so funny. I know it's hard to choose. Do you have a top 3?
Lucy
Maggie
This has been such a delightful process...learning is one of my favorite things about life. I ABSOLUTELY love all the creativity. The pinecone roof is one of my favorite examples of the creative people that are out there in our world. We were created in His image, so I believe creating, growing, learning, and sharing is a major part of our lives. Thanks for the opportunity.
Lucy
Maggie,
What a wonderful perspective on creativity. I think it's a critical part of our existence, too.
Lucy
Lucy
Maggie,
I love the pine cone roof too. I tried to do one in the past, but I think my pine cones were too big and it didn't look good, but Hannalore's roof is great.
